Dr. David Henderson Jr. has been serving as the Senior Pastor of the Greater Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church located in Dallas,Texas since March 1984. He is a man who believes that the entire community should be empowered in every aspect of life. His vision for the church for the 21st Century is to, “Evolve a family ministry with intentional application of the Gospel with expected outcome of restoring the whole family into harmony with God’s ideal to bring about wholeness, harmony, and happiness for the empowerment of the congregation”. Economically, he’s empowering every member to become that of excellence through, Stewardship, Family, and Evangelism. He has championed many issues and corrected politicians that have lost focus.

The core of Greater Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church is being empowered spiritually and that is evident: with two services on Sunday morning, a thriving Christian Education Ministry, a cutting edge Student & Collegiate Ministry with an in depth curriculum, as well as a Mid Week Worship Experience where people come eagerly to learn and to be challenged by the Word.
Dr.Henderson holds a B.A. degree from United Theological Seminary in Monroe, Louisiana. He also received his Masters and PhD degrees from Aspen Theological Seminary located in Denver, Colorado.

There are numerous significant accomplishments that have been achieved by this great man of God. Currently Dr.Henderson serves as Vice President of the African American Pastors Coalition C.D.C. Board, President of the Baptist Ministers Conference and also serves as an instructor for the Congress of Christian Education, U.S.A. Corporation.

He is the proud husband of, Kathy Henderson, as well as the proud father of, his sons, Pastor David Henderson III and Bro. Cory Davis, along with 14 grandchildren.
